Inspired by the genes of her grandfather who was a painter and violinist, Lydia started drawing at an early age. She joined the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and later completed the 3-year art course at the LOKV. She has taken many courses, including learning about the subject better and making her own paint. But also Chinese and Japanese painting.
She exhibits regularly and is a permanent member of various galleries at home and abroad. Articles have been written about her in newspapers and magazines. Lydia started with oil paint and watercolor. Gradually, she started painting with acrylic paint and developed from abstraction to abstraction. She is a multidisciplinary artist, and uses ink, oil, watercolor, acrylic in combination with other elements: cotton, aluminum, stone, paper, etc.
Her work is the result of a random process, not the end result but the road to it provides the inspiration. Which she also uses as a philosophy of life. The most important elements in her work are the natural tones. And she uses materials that have already had a life and that she is inspired by.
