Ketlin van Esschoten (1975) is a visual artist with a background in architecture. This combination of expertise is reflected in her search for the ultimate fusion of different materials within an abstract composition. A large part of her inner life is buried in her mixed media works. She translates personal stories and experiences, but also concerns about social issues, into the use of new materials that gradually form an experimental learning process.
As she puts it herself: “I've always had that. I appear to have an infinite urge for creation and inspiration, combined with the collecting passion of a magpie. It was always a mess, because everything was involved, I can do something with everything. I made a castle from a box and a dress from aluminum foil. That is a kind of experience, a fantasy that you have of yourself. Actually, I have been an artist all my life.”
Ketlin van Esschoten completed her studies at the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2005, specializing in Spatial Design. Her work is shown at various exhibitions in the Netherlands, including recently: Kunstmoment Diepenheim, Contemporary intertwined with MIJ, Museum IJsselstein. There are regular workshops and courses to inspire others. She has been a member of the art café in IJsselstein since March 2015.
